As Fyre already said (with some from me),

"Cllick on the username, and there's a button that said "follow" click it and you'll follow that user"

Also, you don't add people, you follow people. Glad to help! :3

 Oh to answer your question involving following you just click the persons name and above their avatar should be a link that says "following" click that and their activity will appear in your stream.

AS for my first question, how do I follow someone? (e.g. I want to follow Fyrespitter but don't know how)

Second one is, can I change my picture? Not that I don't like it, (It actually is awesome) but can I change to other pictures?
